CREATE project awarded Erasmus+ KA2 funding

Financial support to advance Creathons in higher education

The project “Creathons for Real-world Education and Applied societal Transformation in Europe” (CREATE) receives €400,000 from Erasmus+ KA220-HED initiative. The three year project has been granted to develop an innovative and flexible Creathon-based education model designed to strengthen Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) across European higher education. The kick-off meeting is next week in Linköping.

The project originates from long-standing partnerships within the ECIU University alliance, reflecting its collaborative and innovation-driven spirit. Led by Linköping University (Sweden), CREATE brings together a strong international consortium of ECIU University member institutions: Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), the University of Aveiro (Portugal), and the University of Twente (Netherlands).

The University of Twente plays a key role in the project, contributing its extensive experience in Challenge-Based Learning and innovative educational design. UT will support the development and testing of the Creathon model, help integrate stakeholder collaboration, and contribute to shaping tools and methodologies that higher education institutions can adopt across Europe.

The CREATE project aims to offer a global, adaptable model that empowers learners, teachers, and societal partners to collaboratively tackle real societal challenges. By strengthening openness, creativity, and cross-institutional cooperation, the project seeks to make Challenge-Based Learning more accessible, engaging, and impactful for all participants.
