SDG DataViz Camp

Sdg dataviz camp 2018

Data science is hot! But how can organizations collect, analyse and visualize massive amounts of heterogeneous data in an attractive, informative and actionable way? And how can this help to bring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into everyday practice, in companies, governments and NGO's? These questions will be explored and answered in the SDG DataViz Camp, organized by University of Twente (UT) and Statistics Netherlands (CBS). The event is hosted and moderated by DesignLab, a vibrant innovation hub on the UT campus.

During this week multidisciplinary teams of highly motivated researchers, students, designers, artists, professionals and civil servants will join forces. Guided by experts and mentors, they will create powerful data visualizations and interactive tools to make various indicators of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) tangible and actionable.

TOPIC FOCUS: INEQUALITIES

We will focus on the topic of inequality, an important theme within the SDGs. Think of challenges related to gender, income, social mobility, access to education, and health services. These challenges are applicable on various geographical scales, ranging from a worldwide perspective to your local neighborhood. In the SDG DataViz Camp, all these scales will receive attention.
