Canadian ambassador Sabine Nölke is scheduled to visit the University of Twente on Monday 26 June. During the lunch break (12.30-13.30) Ambassador Nölke will give a lecture entitled “Canada 150”. The location is IDEATE in the DesignLab, attendance is free of charge for University of Twente students and employees and the ambassador will answer questions from the audience.
Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. The Canadian embassy in the Netherlands wishes to strengthen ties with Dutch students and universities. Nölke will discuss the importance of internationalization, gender diversity and the role of the Canadian government in these matters.
During her visit to the University of Twente, Ms Nölke will also meet with Executive Board President Victor van der Chijs and university Internationalization Officers. She will also speak with the board of study association Astatine (Advanced Technology degree programme) and their programme director. Members of Astatine will be going on a study tour to Canada this summer.

“In 2017, Canada will celebrate its 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Ambassador of Canada to the Netherlands H.E. Sabine Nölke will deliver a presentation on the key themes and priorities for Canada as part of this important milestone year. These priorities include: promoting a diverse and inclusive Canada, positive and proactive engagement with Indigenous communities, engaging youth, reaffirming the importance of strong environmental stewardship, and contributing to inclusive Canadian and global prosperity”.
About Sabine Nölke
Sabine Nölke (BA, MA, LLB, University of Western Ontario; LLM, London School of Economics and Political Science) has spent most of her career in the Legal Affairs Bureau, including as counsel in the Legal Operations Division, as deputy director of the United Nations, Criminal and Treaty Law Division and as director of the United Nations, Human Rights and Economic Law Division. She served abroad, at the High Commission of Canada in London and with the Canadian delegation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna. Prior to her appointment to the Netherlands, she was Director-General of the Non-Proliferation and Security Threat Reduction Bureau. Ms. Nölke is married to Christopher D. Ram and has one daughter, Eilidh.
