Thomas Kuhn gave a lot of thought to the theme of knowledge. He introduced the idea of the paradigm shift, meaning that scientific disciplines undergo revolutionary changes rather than progressing in a steady manner. These paradigm shifts open up new approaches to understanding what scientists would never have considered valid before. His philosophical insights have had a lot of influence.
Prof.dr.ir. Mieke Boon is professor Philosophy of Science in Practice in the Philosophy Department (UT).
