As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10. From that date, no further security updates will be released. To safeguard the security of our IT environment, workstations running Windows 10 will no longer be able to connect to the University of Twente network.
Within the UT, some Windows 10 systems are still in use, often on outdated hardware that needs replacement. Maintaining these systems is also costly. Therefore, we ask staff to return Windows 10 devices to the ICT Service Desk in time, including systems that may be unused and stored away.
Do you still have a Windows 10 device in use or under your management? Please contact the Service Desk ICT (servicedesk-ict@utwente.nl) for replacement or further processing.
For personal computers (BYOD), the owner is responsible for performing the upgrade. Devices running Windows 10 may no longer connect to the UT network from October 2025 onward.
