Vrijhof Culture new cultural season is kicking off again!

With wonderful exhibitions, inspirational performances, and a wide range of cultural education for students and employees.

You are warmly invited to join us!

Performances
Forget what you think you know about classical music, violins and awkward performance traditions. Fuse immediately transport you to their world of music, and you will only realise afterwards that that is just what you’ve been missing. We open on Wednesday, 11 September at 19.30 in the Openluchttheater (or Vrijhof Cultural Centre if the weather is poor).

You may know Fuse as the house band at Podium Witteman, but few people are aware of the path Fuse have taken since 2012: hundreds of performances, from smoky clubs and serene churches to festival grounds and concert halls. The result of hours on stage under television lighting and experimenting in their rehearsal studio is now in Fuse’s genes. It has made the group brilliant, infectiously attuned to one another, and convincingly enthusiastic about the music they play for you. The unique, individual sound produced by the 6 friends is electric, rousing, and catchy.

We are offering an early-bird discount for online ticket sales again this year! You can use the code until no later than 11 September for one or more tickets to receive a one-euro discount per ticket. The code is: EarlyBirdie

Cultural education
We have once again put together a varied offering of courses for UT students and employees for the coming two quarters. Arabian cooking, Group Guitar lessons and Wordpress/Website design are just a few examples. You can also attend the Open Atelier for walk-in drawing and painting classes again this year.

New this season is that you can find the available courses in UT’s Coursefinder. This makes them easier to find and makes the full UT range more complete! See our website for a summary. Enrolment opens at the start of the Kick-In introduction period on Wednesday, 21 August. We are able to offer the courses thanks in part to the Student Union and OPUT.

Exhibitions
The first exhibition of the season, with sports photos by UT Swimming Facilities Manager Marcel ter Bals, will take place in the small exhibition space on Thursday, 12 September at 16:30. He was nominated for the sports photography category of the Zilveren Camera award this year!

The following week sees the opening of the large exhibition space with an exhibition by our Creative Welding lecturer Henk Maassen on Wednesday 18 September at 16:30. Maassen has been a beloved teacher and artist for 40 years now.

You can find this and far more on the bilingual Culture website: www.utwente.nl/culture.
