Vrijhof Culture & Studium Generale present: mini-expo Alice in Mathland

Perhaps you already spotted them? All the Alice in Wonderland books in the showroom at the entrance of the Vrijhof? Those books are just a small part of the huge collection of Henri Ruizenaar.

Besides being a mathematician Henri Ruizenaar is a fiery Alice collector and on the occasion of his lecture Alice in Mathland on Tuesday evening 3 October a part of his collection will be in the Vrijhof up to 10 October.

A white rabbit that speaks, a cat that slowly dissolves in the sky, a wicked heart queen. Who doesn't know the wonderful adventures of Alice in Wonderland? But it's not all just fantasy, mathematics and logic appear to play an important role in the stories. Author Lewis Carroll was therefore the pseudonym of mathematician Charles Dodgson. What makes sense, what's nonsense?

In cooperation with Studium Generale and W.S.G. Abacus.
