Week of the Dutch carillon music

The Dutch Carillon Association ‘Nederlandse klokkenspel-vereniging (NKV)’ celebrates its 100th anniversary on 20 June 2018. On the occasion of this celebration, the NKV requested all carillonneurs in the Netherlands to perform original compositions for carillon from Dutch composers from the past 100 years. In addition, the Dutch composer Leo Samama wrote a special composition ‘Centenary Bells’ for this occasion.

The campus carillon of the University of Twente joins the Week of the Dutch carillon music.

The (preliminary) programme contains among others the following compositions:

Albert de Klerk: ‘Drie stukken voor kleine beiaard’ (Three pieces for small carillon)

Anton van Ooik: ‘Suite in oude stijl’ (Suite in old style)

Leo Samama: ‘Centenary Bells

Sjef van Balkom: ‘Toccata voor beiaard’ (Toccata for carillon)

About the campus carillon

The campus carillon is a donation from municipalities in the Twente region on the occasion of the opening of the University of Twente in 1964. Since it was installed, the carillon always has been played by students and employees of the University of Twente.
