This course is intended for researchers who are publishing in English or are about to do so in the near future. For academic staff whose current level of English is approximately CEF C1-C2. 

For PhD-candidates there is an Academic Publishing bootcamp.  


This course will provide the participants with a broad understanding of the scientific publication process from choosing a journal to getting the manuscript accepted for publication.


The following topics will be covered:

  • Choosing a journal
  • Manuscript guidelines
  • Making an article template
  • Writing a short article according to the template
  • The review process
  • How the journal handles manuscripts once submitted


This is an hands-on course where active participation of the participants is required. Each lesson includes a variety of practical exercises and homework assignments that are specifically geared to the field of study of the participants.


Attendance at each of the 4 sessions is essential. The duration of each session is 3 hours. Homework assignments are expected to take approximately 2 to 4 hours each week. 


Participants are required to be far enough into their research projects to have novel experimental data that will be included in a manuscript to be submitted for publication.
