Breathing is at the heart of this eight-week training. You learn to use your breath to slow down, relax and become more aware of what is happening in your body.
Each session starts with a 10-20 minute breathing meditation. We take the time to focus on the breath, notice how you are breathing and experience what happens when you consciously slow down your breathing rhythm.
During the eight weeks, you also learn more about healthy breathing: what happens to your breathing when you are under stress, why the way you breathe matters, and how you can use your breath in everyday life. You will learn different breathing techniques that can help you relax, recover from stress or settle your mind when you have difficulty sleeping.
But the training is about more than breathing. Your body tells you a lot. You learn to notice when you are tense or relaxed, recognise your own patterns and boundaries, and become more aware of what you need at that moment.
We practise, reflect and share experiences. This gives you practical tools you can use in daily life, while also creating space to connect with the other people in the group.
What participants will explore:
• Breathing & self-regulation - using your breath to slow down, relax and deal with stress.
• Healthy breathing - understanding how you breathe and what changes when you are under pressure.
• Body awareness - noticing signals of tension and relaxation and becoming more aware of your boundaries.
• Practical tools for daily life - simple techniques you can use during stressful moments, to recover and when you
have difficulty sleeping.
• Connection & reflection - practising together, sharing experiences and learning from each other.
Programme structure:
• 8 group sessions per programme, each lasting 1.5 hours
• Short individual online pre-talk/intake before the programme
• Evaluation at the end of the programme
