This course will guide you through the process of science writing and publishing.
The Science Writing & Publishing course is a personalized trajectory integrating local expertise from your faculty, a science communication trainer from the UT Language Centre, and online courses from the Nature Masterclass platform. The entire trajectory will take 8 weeks.
The course format combines two in-person group sessions, personal feedback sessions and self-study tasks to allow for a high degree of flexibility in your schedule.
This course is most suitable for people who are currently in the process of writing a manuscript for publication.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
After this intensive course you will have:
- gained understanding about the steps involved in the academic publication proces
- carefully considered which journal to choose for publication
- an understanding of the elements of effective science communication
- an understanding of narrative structures to use in your academic writing
- learned about how to improve clarity and cohesion in your own writing
- received feedback from a faculty member of your choice on your own writing
- received an coaching session from a UTLC science communication trainer
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- a supportive environment where you work together with your peers and the trainer to improve your scientific writing skills and knowledge about the publication process
- learning skills which are directly applicable and field-specific

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT:
- Extensive instruction on basic English grammar and vocabulary
- Extensive in-depth treatment of discipline-specific content
