OPEN SESSIONS
Every month, the University Library organizes an open session dedicated to the visual representation of information, or Information Design. We encourage researchers (including PhDs and EngDs) and support staff to join these guided sessions, which will help to enhance the quality of research output and educational materials. During the sessions, attendees and teaching staff reflect on the effectiveness of their work (e.g., a poster, slide deck, visual abstract or infographic) in terms of visual communication through feedback and peer review. For a full course on this topic, please sign up for Information Design – Beginner Course.
TAILORED TO YOU
During the Monthly Meetups attendees can decide for themselves how they want to use their time. Some attendees prefer to bring a project that they are working on to the meetup while others start working on a new idea. Exercises with instructions are available to get started:
- Peer-review: discover what others think of your design choices and what changes would help them understand your work more easily.
- Sketching: explain your design, and quickly create improved versions, to be discussed with other attendees and/or the teaching staff.
- Self-check: assess your own design using a set of criteria provided during the session and discuss your train of thought with the teaching staff.
Depending on the number of attendees and their specific interests, there is room for plenary discussions on certain types of research output or aspects of Information Design.
