BACHELOR-BEFORE-MASTER-RULE ('HARDE KNIP'): INFORMATION FOR BACHELOR AND PRE-MASTER STUDENTS

Information about the ‘Harde knip’(Bachelor-before-Master-rule) for bachelor students and pre-master students

As announced earlier in a message from the Rector Magnificus to all students of the University of Twente, the ‘Bachelor-before-Master’ rule (referred to as ‘harde knip’ in Dutch) has become effective on 1 September 2012. This rule implies that a bachelor programme or a pre-master programme must be fully completed before being allowed to start in a master programme.

General aspects of the rule:

  • the Bachelor-before-Master-rule applies to all premaster’s and bachelor’s students.
  • you are not allowed to participate in a master course as long as you haven’t completed your bachelor or pre-masters programme
