Schiphol Airport remains the most convenient and well-connected option for reaching the University of Twente. We recommend booking your flight via Schiphol whenever possible. Although travel conditions can vary, Schiphol is fully operational, and you can expect a smooth journey.
Schiphol Airport to Enschede: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by train (direct connections available).
Alternative Travel Options: German Airports
For travellers seeking alternatives or coming from specific regions, nearby German airports offer convenient options to reach Enschede.
Düsseldorf Airport to Enschede: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by train (with one transfer, usually at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof).
Münster-Osnabrück Airport to Enschede: Approximately 1 hour 50 minutes by train (with one or two transfers, typically in Münster and/or Osnabrück).

Departure from Airport / Other Departure Points
All airports mentioned have a train station with international connections to the Netherlands. You can travel to Hengelo (located next to Enschede) or directly to Enschede. The University of Twente is situated between Hengelo and Enschede, and all hotel options are located in Enschede. You can purchase your international train ticket in advance (see below). However, it is also possible to buy a ticket on-site at a ticket machine or service desk.

Upon arrival at one of the train stations — Enschede Central Station, Hengelo Central Station, or Enschede Kennispark (the nearest train station) — you can take various buses to reach your final destination. The bus you choose depends on whether you have booked a hotel or are heading directly to the University of Twente – TechMed Centre.
Departing from Enschede Central Station

Please note that this bus travels through several neighbourhoods, which may take more time. Taking bus line 9 is therefore recommended.

Are you visiting the TechMed Event by car? You first drive to the main entrance of the University of Twente (Drienerlolaan 5, Enschede). After arriving on campus, go straight ahead at the roundabout, then at the end of the road, go right. Follow the road until the end and turn right. Then follow the road and take the bend to the right. After approximately 150 meters on your left-hand side, you'll see P4.
Then walk towards the TechMed Centre and follow the path (which is located between the TechMed Centre and the large red building). Walk past the TechMed Centre, turn left and enter the main entrance.
Select the address of the TechMed Centre (Hallenweg 5, Enschede) and follow the route indicated by your directions. Bicycles can be placed parallel to the building in the bicycle sheds. Then walk to the front of the TechMed Centre and enter the building through the reception.
