There are 13 research groups at the UT offering chemical Master’s assignments. Some of these groups are especially interesting for students of a certain track (M&ME of C&PE), while others are interesting for both tracks. It must be noted that if a group is especially interested in students of one track, it doesn’t mean that students of the other track cannot do a Master’s assignment at that group. However, more elective courses will probably have to be followed in agreement with the research group. You can also try to find a Master’s assignment at a research group that is not listed below, but remember that the Board of Examiners of the ChE Master programme still has to approve your assignment.
Below you can find an overview of the 13 research groups. You can also visit the site of each group for more info.

Most research groups mentioned above are part of a research institute. In the field of (bio)chemical engineering, two research institutes are active: MESA+ and MIRA.
MESA+: institute for nanotechnology
MESA+ is one of the world’s largest nanotechnology research institutes; and it’s the largest research institute in this field in the Netherlands. A total of 525 researchers work together on cutting-edge research at the highest level.
MESA+ boasts a state-of-the-art NanoLab with a floor area of 1250 square metres. The fact that its users are offered a wide variety of technologies and equipment to develop an almost unlimited number of applications makes the MESA+ NanoLab quite unique.
MESA+ actively seeks collaboration with industry and encourages entrepreneurship among its employees. This has led to the institute being the birthplace of as many as 50 high-tech spin-off companies that market developed technologies and thus make them available to the community. Through collaboration and a focus on interdisciplinary research, the excellent infrastructure and entrepreneurship, MESA+ is one of the world’s top institutes in the field of nano and microtechnology.

Techmed: Technical medical centre
The Technical Medical (TechMed) Centre is a leading Innovation Hub impacting healthcare by excellent Research, Innovation and Educational programs. It is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, ranging from research labs, preclinical testbeds and simulated hospital environments.
In our mission to impact society, we stimulate entrepreneurship and enable (new) companies to grow within our regional Novel-T ecosystem, and collaborate with industry, hospitals, governments and insurance agencies on the development of new solutions for healthcare.
