UT in the SustainaBul ranking 2020

On the 29th of May was the digital awarding ceremony of the Sustainabul in which the UT was awarded a 12th place. All results of the SustainaBul 2020 can be found in the benchmark report (Dutch only).

What is the Sustainabul?

SustainaBul is a ranking for Dutch higher education institutions that is organized by Students for Tomorrow annually. It examines the extent to which these institutions integrate sustainability in their education, research, operational management and integral approach. This year, the 30 largest higher education institutions automatically participated in the ranking, including the UT. The ranking consisted of two rounds: first, questionnaires were completed by students and then the UT was able to complete this information in the second round.

UT in top 5 of Best practices

In addition to completing all questionnaires, the UT was also given the opportunity to submit a best practice. These are studies, projects or measures that had not yet been included in the questionnaire but which do contribute to the sustainability of the UT. A total of 50 best practices were submitted and the UT ended up in the top 5 with its LIFE Living Lab. The LIFE Living Lab is an open-air laboratory where students live in 6 tiny houses and where research is done into the energy transition. The construction of the tiny houses will start this fall.
