UT-employees: €650
Faculty departments pay an annual fee, so you do not pay yourself. You need permission from your head of department, and an OFI number.
Service departments will be charged with the course price, so you do not pay yourself. You need permission from your head of department, and an OFI number. 

Partners of UT-employees: €650

Non-UT participants: €850
Partners and non-UT participants can use internet payment to pay the course fee.

Course materials will be provided by the TCP Language Centre.


For staff and PhDs whose current level of English is level CEF B1 and who wish to improve their level to CEF B2. The FCE-examination is optional and at the participant's own cost. Registration for the exam can be arranged individually through the British Council.


This course provides participants with opportunities to practise and improve English skills suitable for upper-intermediate use.


  • Intensive training in all language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking;
  • interactive classes;
  • particular focus on vocabulary, idioms and structure (English in Use);
  • extensive use of authentic materials;
  • exam preparation.


The course consists of 25 two-hour classes, providing ample opportunity for discussion, pair work and group work. In addition, participants are expected to spend a considerable amount of time on self-study assignments. See for more information.


Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course is held over 25 weeks, excluding a summer holiday break in July and August. Homework is expected to take approximately three hours each week. The study load for this course is roughly equivalent to 4.5 ECTS.


Participants are required to complete an Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT) before being accepted for enrolment in a Cambridge course. English language proficiency at level CEF B1 (Common European Framework) is required.
