Salary Negotiation Skills

Do you want to get more of what you want? Then join our workshop on salary negotiations! Nobody is a born a negotiator, it is a learned behaviour. However, everyone is a negotiator as we negotiate every day both in business and in our everyday life. Negotiations is like any other sport, if you practice it daily you can become a good negotiator. By enhancing your negotiation skills, you can get more of what you want. Salary negotiations are one of the most important negotiations you will encounter in life as it has part in creating your future and why should you settle for less if you could get more? Learning the fundamentals in negotiation is thus essential. This workshop will be focused on salary negotiations in particular and covers the fundamentals of:

  • How to prepare for salary negotiation
  • How to present and propose offers
  • How to claim value
  • How to create value
  • The importance of active listening
  • The importance of emotional intelligence in negotiations
  • How to change a NO to a YES.
  • How to overcome insecurity in salary negotiations
  • Knowing what you want and getting what you want

  • Trainers

    Aldís Guðný Sigurðardóttir, is an Assistant Professor at University of Twente in the Netherlands. She has over 20 years of managerial experience including negotiating complex agreements as a director of companies in both the public and private sectors. As a founder and a CEO of a company in the creative sector (founded 2007) she gained considerable management experience as well as a founder and executive director of a consultancy company (2013), where she has been a head negotiator in challenging negotiations on behalf of her clients, which are companies in various public and private sectors. Dr. Sigurðardóttir has also extensive experience in wage agreement disputes and have worked for various labour unions. Moreover, her research area is in negotiation behaviour and what affects the performance of negotiators. she was/is a visiting scholar in at various universities around Europe (Poland, Iceland, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Denmark) and has also considerable training experience as she has trained negotiators of start-up companies in Iceland, Poland and in Denmark; trained women leaders and executive MBA students for an annual international negotiation competition for years. Her practical experience in negotiation, as well as her experience from research, training and teaching has provided her a deep understanding on the nature of negotiations and the role of behavioural economics on companies’ performance. To conclude, she is at heart a negotiator and loves everything about the process.
