In this advanced course, participants will extend their knowledge of Dutch, going from CEF-level B2 to B2/ C1.
If you have made it to level B2 (and possibly have taken the State Examination NT2 programme II), you will be able to participate in every-day life in the Netherlands without any problems. But you may want to expand your skills, such as communicating in Dutch at an academic level. If this is the case, you can continue to improve your language proficiency in the B2-C1 course. In this course, you will use the first four chapters from the book Nederlands naar Perfectie and possibly also sources and materials of your own. Every week, there will be a meeting in which you will work on your oral language skills under the guidance of a teacher. In addition, you will work both independently and together with your fellow students on reading skills, vocabulary, grammar and writing skills, with the aid of a study guide. You will do writing assignments on which you will receive feedback from the teacher. During the course meetings, you can ask questions about the self-study programme and about language issues that you encounter in every-day life. At the end of the course, you will take a test that consists of a written and an oral part. If the result is satisfactory, you will be able to enrol in the C1 course.
Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course consists of 20 lessons of two hours each, with two sessions every week: one study lesson and one practice lesson. Please take into account the fact that the course will involve approx. 6 hours of work per week: 2 hours of homework, 2 hours in the study group, and 2 hours with the teacher. Homework is best divided into four times half an hour, which works better than doing everything in one go.
Admission is granted based on certificates obtained from earlier language courses, in this case, Dutch B2, or an intake exam, which you can register for here.
