In this course, participants will extend their basic knowledge of Dutch, going from CEF-level A2 to A2/B1.
Once a week you have a study lesson where you have to prepare for the practice lesson. In this study lesson, you use the course’s online learning platform to listen to dialogues, practise and learn grammar, do exercises and learn the vocabulary, together with other participants and under the guidance of a student-assistant.
In the practice lesson, you will actively work with the teacher and your classmates and practise all the topics you have prepared in the study lesson. This way, at the end of the course, you will be able to function in Dutch at CEF-level A2/B1. You are on your way to the following CEF-level B1 learning objectives and are learning to:
- understand key points from clear standard texts on familiar matters regularly encountered at work, school and leisure,
- cope with most situations that may arise when traveling in areas where Dutch is spoken,
- produce a simple running text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest,
- describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and can briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course consists of 20 lessons of two hours each, with two sessions every week: one study lesson and one practice lesson. Homework is expected to take approximately two hours per week, in addition to the study lesson.
Admission is granted based on certificates obtained from earlier language courses, in this case, Dutch A2, or an intake exam, which you can register for here.
