In this course, participants will acquire a basic knowledge of Dutch, leading them to CEF-level A2.
Once a week you have a study lesson where you have to prepare for the practice lesson. In this study lesson, you use the course’s online learning platform to listen to dialogues, practise and learn grammar, do exercises and learn the vocabulary, together with other participants and under the guidance of a student-assistant.
In the practice lesson, you will actively work with the teacher and your classmates and practise all the topics you have prepared in the study lesson. This way, at the end of the course, you will be able to function in Dutch at CEF-level A2, which means that you can:
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment),
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters,
- describe in simple terms aspects of your background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course consists of 20 lessons of two hours each, with two sessions every week: one study lesson and one practice lesson. Homework is expected to take approximately two hours per week, in addition to the study lesson.
Admission is granted based on certificates obtained from earlier language courses, in this case, Dutch A1, or an intake exam, which you can register for here.
