After this series of two workshops you have gained deeper insights into the influence culture has on your behavior and style(s) of communication, you have practiced new communicative and dilemma reconciling skills so you will be able to operate more effectively in a culturally diverse study and/or working environment.
A series of highly interactive workshops that include theory and practice of two key intercultural competences: Intercultural Communication (I) and Dilemma Reconciliation (II). These series are a follow-up of the introductory workshop on intercultural competences (link naar basics)
Different communication styles will be discussed and practiced with. We will work with your personal cultural dilemmas while practicing to bridge different value orientations. We also explore the deeper levels of identity and culture and how they affect your or other people’s position in study groups and society at large. Theory, exercises, exchange and reflection are alternated throughout these workshops. We will work with your individual learning goals. The series will be concluded by making your personal intercultural learning plan.
Throughout participants learn about and enhance their intercultural competences. In general, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to operate effectively in culturally diverse contexts. Course materials are handed out during the training.
This training consists of two sessions of three hours each, 18.00 - 21.00. Every participant receives a questionnaire (1 page) with content relevant questions about individual learning aims, to be returned to the tutor before start of the workshops. Please note that it is obligatory to participate in both sessions.
