If you have a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences (HBO) programme, you may be admitted to one of the University of Twente’s Civil Engineering programmes upon completion of a pre-Master’s course. It is also possible to complete the pre-Master’s programme as a component of your minor. Relevant Bachelor’s degrees are in Civil Engineering, Architecture or other closely related disciplines (like bouwtechnische bedrijfskunde and land and watermanagement).
Please note that most of the course material is in English. Some lectures are in Dutch, others in English.
The pre-Master’s programme contains 30 credits for the majority of the bachelor’s degrees. This is a fulltime study programme of one semester.

*This course consists of two subjects: the final grade is the average of both. The average grade must be sufficient and for both subjects a minimum of 5.0 is required.
The pre-Master programme starts in September and ends in February.
Our premaster programme has the following goals:
- Test if the study abilities (planning, reading considerable amount of theory independently, analytical and technical skills) are good enough to enter the master programme.
- Provide a sound basis in academic skills.
To achieve these goals we expect you to participate in lectures, tutorials and group work. Self-study forms an important part of your premaster track. A premaster student has to finish this programme within one year. After finishing the premaster programme you can enter in September or February in the master programme.
Some bachelor degrees are lacking essential courses for our master programme and we require an extended premaster programme. The admission commission of Civil Engineering and Management takes this decision.
