Housing for Exchange students

housing for incoming exchange students

Please select whether or not you need an entry visa and/or residence permit to study at the University of Twente. Are you not sure whether this applies to you? Please look at our page on entry visas and/or residence permits

  • Entry visa and/or residence permit

Since you, as a non-EU/EEA exchange student, need an entry visa and/or residence permit, UT wants to offer you extra help in your search for a room. UT will mediate once in your accommodation through a guaranteed booking in the ITC International Hotel. These rooms are exclusively available for non-EU/EEA exchange students. You can find more information about the ITC International Hotel rooms here.

    Available via Roomspot

As soon as we have received and registered the payment of your entry visa as well as the bank statement, the offer for the ITC International Hotel room will be made available to you via Roomspot. Therefore it is important to arrange your payment and create an account on Roomspot. You will be informed by e-mail once the offer is available to you.

    Duration of your stay

The contract dates are fixed and depend on the duration of your exchange. For the first semester, contracts will start as of 16 August, and for the second semester, 01 February. The exact dates will be mentioned in your offer.

    Deadline

The deadline to secure your ITC International Hotel room for the September (first semester) intake is 31 July, and for the February (second semester) intake, 15 January. After the deadline, we cannot provide you with a guaranteed housing offer anymore.

If you are not interested in a room at the ITC International Hotel, you must find accommodation yourself. Please be aware that finding housing for a short period is a challenge.

  • No entry visa and/or residence permit

If you are an incoming exchange student who doesn't require an entry visa and/or residence permit, and you are looking for accommodation on campus or in the vicinity of our university, please create an account at Roomspot; the online housing portal for Enschede and Hengelo. Here you can find the current housing offer in Enschede and Hengelo and apply for the accommodations you are interested in.

The city of Enschede – which is very popular amongst students – has a competitive housing market. We strongly recommend you to inform yourself about the Dutch housing market for students, and to start your search for a room in time.
