Security exercise on University of Twente campus

The Maritime Special Operation Forces (MARSOF) of the marine corps and The Dienst Speciale Interventies (DSI) conducted a security exercise on the University of Twente campus on 17 February. These security services exercise nationwide, they approached the UT with a request to organise an exercise on the campus. The UT agreed to this to contribute to (national) security.

MARSOF is working in close cooperation with DSI on national counterterrorism operations.

The DSI was established on 1 July 2006 as the overarching special units service of the Netherlands National Police Agency (KLPD). This service takes the overall lead in deploying specialist units in terrorism-related situations, situations of excessive violence, or in exceptional circumstances. The UT will use the experience gained during the DSI exercise to tighten up the existing emergency plan and guidelines for emergency situations further where necessary.
