In between contrasts? Esther Jacobse

Esther Jacobse graduated as a sculptor but is a real drawing artist nowadays.

She reinterprets photos which she finds in newspapers and magazines and uses them to create here own drawings. With making these new additions she creates new images.

Does she, by transforming both the form and the image, give them a new meaning? See for yourself or ask her at the Meet & Greet!

In her work Esther is looking for contrasts like guild and innocence, humane and inhumane. The (im)possibility of man to be in harmony with himself and his environment. What we would like to push in the background, but what always comes up again.

In Esther’s drawings you’ll find a lot of birds. She writes about that:

“ There is a humanesque quality in the gazes of many birds which I find fascinating. I'd like to capture and emphasize their humanity by using a medium which we humans use to show ourselves to others: the portrait. “

You are cordially invited to the Meet & Greet on Thursday 19 October at 7 pm.
