ACCESSIBILITY: MAP/ROUTE

THE CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE IS LOCATED BETWEEN the city of ENSCHEDE AND the city of HENGELO AND IS EASY ACCESSIBLE BY CAR, BIKE OR PUBLIC TRANSPORT (TRAIN AND BUS).

The central address of the UT is Drienerlolaan 5, Enschede, the Netherlands. For addresses of specific buildings, please consult our address list.

Accessibility per mode of transport

  • Car

    Coming from motorway A1, take motorway A35 in the direction of Enschede. Take exit number 26: Enschede-West/Universiteit. Follow the signs 'Universiteit Twente'. If you are using a GPS system, enter Drienerlolaan 5 in Enschede as your destination address.

    From the UT main entrance (near the large LED screen), signs will lead you to parking areas. The numbers of buildings are also marked with signs. The map shows which parking area is closest to the building of your destination. Some of the parking areas have charging stations for electric cars. The central delivery point for suppliers is located in the building Garage (no 5).

    PLEASE NOTE: On match days of FC Twente the campus has limited accessibility for cars.

  • Bus

    When planning a travel route to the university by public transport, we always recommend using the travel advice of https://9292.nl/en.

    By bus

    From Enschede: Take line 1 in the direction of Universiteit. It will take you to the campus. Lines 8 and 9 to Hengelo have no routes to the campus itself but do halt at the main entrance (the name of the bus stop is Kennispark/UT).

    From Hengelo: Lines 8 and 9 will drive from Hengelo to Enschede and will both stop near the main entrance. 

    PLEASE NOTE: There are fewer buses during weekends, and buses will take different routes. On home match days of FC Twente, buses will not drive on the campus. There are extra bus services during rush hours.

  • Train

    When planning a travel route to the university by public transport, we always recommend using the travel advice of https://9292.nl/en.

    By train

    Take the train (regional rail) and get off at Enschede Kennispark station. There are regular buses from here that will take you to the university (line 1). The main entrance of the University of Twente is located at a walking distance of approximately ten minutes from Enschede Kennispark train station. Other buildings are a bit further away. 

  • By bike

    From the city centre of Enschede and Enschede station, you can easily cycle over the F35 to the University of Twente. The entire route to and from the campus is indicated by F35 signs.

    Directions from Enschede city Centre/Station

    Cycle from the station via Hengelosestraat to Brandweerstraat to access the F35. After the two bike bridges, turn right towards Schorpioenstraat. Cycle straight ahead on Maanstraat and Uranusstraat, cross Hengelosestraat at the end, and turn left. The University of Twente will be on your right-hand side.

Visitors can enter the campus either via the main entrance at the Hengelosestraat or via the entrances at the Bosweg. All other entrances are blocked with barriers. Staff and students with cars are in some cases eligible to request a barrier pass.  

LIMITED ACCESS ON HOME MATCHDAYS OF FC TWENTE

On home match days of FC Twente, the campus area is used for extra parking spaces for visitors of the match. The barriers of the campus area will then be closed and city buses will be on detour. Stewards at several locations will make sure the supporters park their cars only in designated areas. By showing their ID, residents, students, and staff will be able to reach their destination.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS

All buildings are accessible for wheelchairs. The major education buildings also have an ITS certificate.
