Self-compassion can be considered an important transdiagnostic factor. It is related to many psychological disorders. The University of Twente collaborates with Paul Gilbert in research projects. Several studies are conducted on compassion and coping with daily stressors and on the effects of interventions based on CFT for people with chronic stress, higher levels of self-criticism and chronic pain. Earlier it was found that self-compassion was the strongest mediator of the effects of a multicomponent positive psychology intervention on positive mental health and resilience.
