September 2018

This month we are meeting with Thales to further inspect design options for a new lab. For this lab we will use current problems that challenge students' problem solving skills and that stimulate their computational thinking (and programming skills).

June 2018

We are processing the outcomes of the reflection tools and in the proces of designing a new lab. Aside from this we are collecting data about the knowledge of teachers in vocational education on 21st century skills. Together with Tech Your Future we approach vocational schools and ask teachers there to fill out an online questionnaire. You can find the questionnaire here:

January 2018

Currently we are preparing and planning two studies to evaluate the newly developed reflection tools: Reflection on knowledge and Reflection on proces. 

September - december 2017

In a series of teacher meetings we redesign the learning environment. Teachers help us create content that matches the curriculum and challenges the students. In addition, we are preparing two new tools: the reflection on knowledge tool and the reflection on proces tool.

July 2017

The first teacher meeting took place at Saxion Deventer. In the teacher meetings we reflect on and discuss the progress of the project. In addition, attending teachers will co-design the learning materials and environments with us. In this first teacher meeting, aside from introducing the project and the aim of the teacher meetings, we discussed the goals of the project and reviewed one of our cognitive tools, the concept mapper. 

March  - June 2017

We are currently  collecting the logfiles and preparing the analysis of the student conversations.  

Januari - March 2017

First experiment: We are collecting data at the four schools that are our projectpartners. Our goal is to investigate the effects of direct instruction and active reflection through peer-feedback on collaboration skills as shown in a digital learning environment. Students of the first year of vocational technical education work for five consecutive lessons in a computer supported collaborative learning environment that is designed to teach them about electrical currents and transport of electrical energy.
