Niels Uenk (MSc) obtained his Master degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Twente in 2009, specializing in logistics and purchasing. After graduation, Niels worked 5 years as Operations Research consultant focussing on the optimization of transportation and inventory for world-leading companies in the oil and gas industry. In 2014 he started as a researcher with the Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC), a collaboration between the University of Twente and University of Utrecht that combines both an economic and legal perspective on public procurement research. In 2015 Niels started his PhD research project on the topic of public procurement of social care services. Other research interests include community benefits of public procurement, public procurement law, social aspects of public procurement, and tendering in micro-lots. Besides the affiliation with the University of Twente he is a guest researcher at the University of Utrecht. Niels is treasurer of IPSERA since 2016.
