MSCA IF Masterclass 2019 (17-19 June)

Sign up 'your talent'

We would like to inform you about the 2019 edition of the MSCA IF Masterclass that is organized from 17 to 19 June at the UT to attract external research talents at post-doc level to the UT, potentially funded by a Marie Curie Individual/European Fellowship (MSCA IF).

What’s in for you?

Explore your network and identify external research talents at post-doc level from abroad with whom you would like to collaborate in your group. Being a bottom-up type of call, MSCA IF allows participants to choose the topic of the fellowship, and offers different schemes suitable for different types of candidates.

When/if you recruit a research talent, you can invite her/him to jointly write a research proposal for the MSCA IF call (deadline 11 September 2019).
S/he will be the applicant to the MSCA IF, and you will act as the supervisor.
Upon agreement with your Faculty, your candidate is welcome to participate in the Masterclass. The Masterclass is set up to support the two of you in developing a competitive proposal for this call.

On MSCA IF

The main objective of the MSCA IF call is to attract talented researchers of any nationality, by providing opportunities to acquire and transfer new knowledge and to work on research and innovation in Europe (EU Member States and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries) and beyond.
This is a very interesting opportunity for our research community, as supervisors can have excellent researchers coming to the UT for up-to 24 months fully covered. Furthermore, the MSCA programme is listed under the H2020 Excellence pillar, and therefore participation in the programme/hosting a fellow counts as an important indicator for research excellence of an institution or group. The MSCA IF is a very complete grant, not only providing allowances for living, travel and family costs to the applicant, but also contributing to the training, supervision and managing costs of the host institution.

To apply you submit a research proposal, including the applicant’s CV. The proposal is written jointly with the chosen supervisor and host institution in Europe. The call opens on 11 April 2019;  templates and a “Guide for applicants” will be sent around at that time.

On the Masterclass

The Masterclass aims at providing the applicants' support on how to develop an excellent proposal for the call and with an acquaintance with the research environment and diverse community of the UT. Participation in the masterclass is free of charge. Subsistence costs (travel + accommodation) of selected candidates are covered by Faculties (about 3 sponsored participants per Faculty). Active contribution to the proposal and partial attendance to the Masterclass is expected from you as future supervisors.

To sign up “your talent”  for the Masterclass, please send in the name + CV of the candidate, including a rough outline of the research idea (max ½ page) at your earliest occasion (but latest 18 April)

For further questions regarding the Marie Curie IF call for proposals 2019 and the Masterclass, you can contact Melanie Braamhaar or Maria Luisa Carosso, grants advisors at the EU Office. (m.h.braamhaar@utwente.nl / m.l.carosso@utwente.nl)
