Period |
April – June 2025 |
Brief description of the assignment |
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly increasing in healthcare and is also making its way into nursing. Artificial intelligence and specifically AI-based lifestyle monitoring in smart homes support older adults to live independently and can be part of the solution for the shortage of nurses. AI-based lifestyle monitoring involves tracking people's daily routines using sensors, such as infrared motion, contact, light, temperature and humidity. In doing so a 'normal' lifestyle pattern for each individual is established over time. Continuous monitoring can detect deviations from this 'normal' pattern (such as reduced movement, increased toilet use or restless sleep) and present these findings to nurses. We are looking for a student who can join the ongoing research regarding how data from AI-based lifestyle monitoring is best presented to nurses. You will be asked to join focus groups discussions with nurses, create an overview of requirements, and help create (early) prototypes of the AI-based lifestyle monitoring dashboard. Interns should speak Dutch in order to participate in the Dutch spoken focus groups. Additionally, experience or affinity with nursing, co-design, and/or long-term care is preferred. The intern will gain experience collaborating with a healthcare organization in Deventer, and is able to work from home or from the UT. They will also have regular meetings with the PhD candidate leading the research. Before you can start this internship, we’ll schedule a short conversation with the PhD candidate to see if there’s a good mutual fit. |
