My career at the University of Twente started in 2008, when I began studying psychology. After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I completed two masters: Positive Psychology & Technology and Health Psychology & Technology. After volunteering for a couple of months in a women’s shelter in South Africa, I again found myself at the UT, now working as a teacher in Health Psychology. I supervised students and developed and taught courses in the bachelor, pre-master and master programs of psychology. During this time, I also got the opportunity to coordinate and develop content for a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on eHealth. Because of my expertise in eHealth, my PhD, which started in 2016, focuses on the use of eHealth in forensic psychiatry.

Research Project

In July 2016 I started my PhD on the development of eHealth in forensic psychiatry, in collaboration with Stichting Transfore and Erasmus MC. My supervisors are dr. Saskia Kelders, dr. Yvonne Bouman and prof. dr. Lisette van Gemert-Pijnen. The project centers around the development of eHealth technologies to monitor and coach the behaviour of forensic psychiatric patients. We focus, amongst other things, on participatory development, Virtual Reality in forensic psychiatry, behaviour change, and data-driven coaching of aggression. Along my PhD, I am still involved as a teacher in the bachelor Psychology and master Health Sciences. Furthermore, I’m an editor of the book ‘eHealth Technology: Theory, Development and Evaluation’ and am still the coordinator of the eHealth MOOC.
