Exploring the impact on mental health due to climate change in older people: A scoping review

Method StreamLiterature Review

ECs: Only 14 EC (standard, no new/own data collection. Applicable in case of a clinical internship)

Description:

The impact of Climate change is becoming increasingly evident, affecting the physical and mental health of the overall population, with varying severity across countries. While, research on the impact on mental health due to climate change is getting more attention (specially in younger population), the impact on the mental health of older adults is under-researched, with just a few exceptions, but without a specific focus on mental health and analyzing articles published until 2021 (Montoro-Ramírez et al., 2024)

Therefore, the objective of this project is to conduct a scoping review of the impact of climate change on older people by analysing available literature using AI software such as ASREVIEW https://asreview.nl/ and/or COVIDENCE https://www.covidence.org/. The review will be conducted by two reviewers, who will contrast their findings.

With this project, we aim to advance understanding of the impact of climate change on elderly people and identify possible actions to provide treatment or strategies to address it.
