EXPERTISE

In 2009 I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Twente for my Master’s degree in Psychology. For my Master’s thesis, I studied factors that influence the level of self-protective behaviour of citizens with regard to several safety risks. After graduation, I worked at the University of Twente as a junior researchers. Currently, I am working at Saxion University of Applied Sciences as a lecturer in the field of Safety and Security Studies.

Within my research, I focus on risk perception and risk behaviour. Furthermore, I focus on ways to enhance self-protectiveness of citizens using risk and crisis communication.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Since 2012 I am, next to my job at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, affiliated to the University of Twente as a PhD student at the department PCRS. In my PhD project I examine risk behaviour and self-protective behaviour of citizens with regard to several types of safety risks. I also look at ways in which risk communication can contribute to self-protectiveness of citizens.

Prof.dr. Ellen Giebels is my promotor, Dr. Jan Gutteling is my co-promotor.

FUNCTIONS

I have been working at Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Safety and Security Studies) since 2010. I teach in the field of behavioural sciences, research and statistics.
