Online legal advice and conflict support: a Dutch experience

The first report on a longitudinal study following individuals in legal conflicts was published last week.

In this report Esmée Bickel (PCRS master student), Marian van Dijk (PCRS PhD candidate), and professor Ellen Giebels describe results of the first two measurements. The study follows individuals through their conflicts and compares people who made use of Rechtwijzer.nl to those who have not. Rechtwijzer.nl is a website developed by the Hague Institute for the Internationalization of Law (Hiil) and the Dutch Legal Aid Board and aims to guide individuals in legal conflicts. This website is one of the front-runners in the field of online legal aid provision. The report focuses on divorce as well as consumer conflicts and looks at who uses Rechtwijzer.nl, what kind of conflicts they have, and whether we see effects of the use of Rechtwijzer.nl in the short term. The report will download in pd
