Risk perception and self-reliance regarding large scale events
Information about organisation
The “Veiligheidsregio Twente” is a regional partnership of the police, fire departments, medical emergency organization in the Region (GHOR) and the fourteen municipalities in Twente. Its main task is to protect all people living, working or staying in Twente from risks, emergencies, disasters and crises.
The “Veiligheidsregio Twente” offers various internships for students. These projects relate to the communication with citizens regarding safety and safety issues. Examples are writing texts or messages to inform citizens with respect to safety issues and the measures they can take themselves to reduce the risks. There are also opportunities regarding the evaluation and effectiveness of existing risk communicative practices. Generally speaking, these risk communications aim to increase risk awareness, promote self-reliance, and to increase the public’s feelings of responsibility for the outcomes in case of a negative event.
Currently, the “Veiligheidsregio Twente” would like to gain insight into the risk perception of people who attend large scale events, and the manner in which these people can be motivated to engage in self-reliant behaviour.
The internship is supposed to result in an (advisory) report. This report will function as the starting point of the research for your master's thesis, that will focus on the perceived risks of large scale events and/or interventions to promote self-reliant behaviour.
This external internship is intended for master students of PCRS. Are you interested in this assignment? Please send a short motivation (max 200 words) to Margôt Kuttschreuter (firstname.lastname@example.org).
