Reinout E. de Vries holds a chair on “The Role of Personality in Human Resource Development” at the University of Twente. His research interests revolve around personality, leadership, and communication styles. His current work at the University of Twente focuses on the effects of personality on individual- and group-level HRD activities. Apart from the University of Twente, Reinout de Vries is also associated with the department of Experimental and Applied Psychology at the VU University Amsterdam and he is editor-in-chief of the Dutch ISI-ranked journal “Gedrag & Organisatie”.

Human Resource Development (HRD) refers to all formal and informal training and development activities that may improve individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. Currently, not much is known about the role of personality in HRD. Together with members of the Department of Educational Sciences, Reinout de Vries is planning to investigate the key individual differences determinants of HRD activities, such as HRD preferences, behaviors during HRD activities, and HRD outcomes.
