BACKGROUND

Arjan Frederiks is a PhD candidate at the Netherlands Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship (NIKOS) at the University of Twente and a researcher at VentureLab International. For his PhD research he focuses on the role of imagination in the field of entrepreneurship. Many scholars state that managers and entrepreneurs use their imagination to come up with, for instance, business ideas and scenarios. In his PhD research Arjan wants to find out how entrepreneurs use their imagination in the entrepreneurial process. His PhD advisors are dr. Michel Ehrenhard and prof.dr. Aard Groen.

Before he was offered a PhD position, Arjan obtained a BSc in Industrial Engineering and Management, an MSc in Business Administration (Innovation and Entrepreneurship track) at the University of Twente, and an MSc in Innovation, Knowledge and Entrepreneurial Dynamics at the Aalborg University in Denmark. Arjan gained entrepreneurial experience for more than three years as a co-founder of BlueCommerce, a technology-driven marketing company.
