Starting January 1, 2026, Nieuw Toezicht and the University of Twente will launch a strategic partnership to strengthen the next generation of supervisors.
For six years, Nieuw Toezicht has offered fresh, talented individuals the opportunity to gain experience within a Supervisory Board or Board of Commissioners in Twente through a traineeship. This has been a resounding success: participants significantly increase their chances of securing their first supervisory position, and organisations benefit from the fresh perspectives and commitment of these young professionals.
In order to continue growing and increase the impact of the programme, Nieuw Toezicht is now entering into a more intensive collaboration with the University of Twente. The connection with the master's course Future-Oriented Supervision has been in place since the start. Both initiatives share the ambition to stimulate responsible, critical and future-oriented leadership.
The collaboration will be officially launched during the Steering for Safety Conference on 6 November. In the presence of administrators, supervisors and alumni, Nieuw Toezicht and the University of Twente will sign their strategic partnership agreement. This marks an important moment in the further professionalisation of supervision in Twente – a region where knowledge, innovation and social leadership come together.
