Dr. Simon Oleszkiewicz wins EAPL early career award

Dr. Simon Oleszkiewicz has been awarded with the Early Career Award by the European Association for Psychology & Law (EAPL).

The award is designed to recognize a researcher’s outstanding accomplishment in the area of psychology and law and to honor an individual in the early career phase. The recommendation report on Simon’s work: “Simon is the one of the most if not the most talented young researcher currently working in the domain of Psychology & Law. What he has accomplished in his early career is extraordinary. Receiving the EAPL early career award would acknowledge these accomplishments and would be a tremendous stimulation to pursue his promising career path.”   

Simon's scientific work is of the highest standards. His publication track record is excellent and rapidly growing. This has already resulted in over 10 published articles in top-tier outlets such as Psychology, Public Policy and Law, Law and Human Behavior, Legal and Criminological Psychology, and of course Psychology, Crime and Law.  

Simon is Assistant Professor at the department of Psychology of Conflict, Risk and Safety (BMS). His work is mainly focused on intelligence gathering, with a specific interest in topics such as subtle elicitation tactics, trust-building strategies, evidence presentation and undercover interactions. Simon is an experimental psychologist who places a high premium on the applied value of his work, and he is particularly interested in developing novel measures for studying intelligence gathering interactions in controlled settings. He is also involved in developing evidence-based training for police and military practitioners in the United States and Scandinavian countries.

Simon received his award 28th June at the 2018 EAPL conference in Turku, Finland.
