Points of attention

Dear students!

Some points of attention for the coming Bachelor Thesis Conference and graduation on 5 November 2015!

1.Final thesis submission

According to the planning you have to upload the final version of your thesis Monday 2 November 2015 to UT repository. No time deadline is set on that day which means 23.59 h.

UT policy is an open publication of your thesis. If there is a reason to have restricted publication your supervisor should have decided on that already. Approval of the examination board is necessary for the decision about confidential status of a thesis. The UT library will take care of it, but also will check with the programme/examination board.

You have to send your supervisors the final version of your thesis at the deadline you agreed on with them. It is important that you have a clear agreement with your supervisor about the version you have permission for to upload as final BSc thesis.

In those cases in which your supervisor want to check your final version before uploading it to the UT repository you have permission to upload it at most 1.5 days later, but always before 4 November 2015 11.00 AM. Formally your BSc thesis project only can be finished and a Diploma be given to you after uploading!

You also have to submit your final version to the programme coordinator (programmecoordinator-iba@utwente.nl) preferably before 3 November, but 4 November 2015, 11.00 AM at the latest.

Your thesis needs to be available on the website of the conference on 5 November 2015.

2.Programme of 5 November 2015

Invite your guests and let us know via this web form how many guests will join you, Saturday 31 October at the latest. We like to have an inspiring and interesting day together with you and your guests!

We will publish a schedule of the parallel session next week (around 1 November).
As soon as the green light decisions are known we will come up with a draft version on Blackboard.

The final schedule will be published on the conference website. Also the draft schedule at this blackboard site will be replaced, Tuesday 2 November 2015 at the latest.

We plan to publish a draft schedule in blackboard on Thursday 29 October 2015.

3.Presentation of Theses on 5 November 2015

You are expected to present your thesis in English.

Sessions are units. You and your guests are expected to participate in them as a whole.

Students are expected to and their guest are kindly asked to participate in the discussions after presentations.

As a student you are responsible to upload your Powerpoint presentation on the desktop of the computer in the room where you will present your thesis before the session starts (preferably 30 mins beforehand)!

4.Graduation Ceremony

We offer this ceremony also to students who present their thesis on 5 November, but do not graduate yet, because they have to finish one or more courses. We would like these students and their guest to join us. They will receive a certificate instead of a diploma, so they are also part of the signing ceremony.

Before the ceremony (15.30h) all guests are asked to enter Waaier 2 to find a seat.

All students who defended their thesis are expected to wait downstairs in the Waaier for an entrance together! Be there at 15.15h! The study advisers and student assistants will check names and invite you for the entrance.

During the ceremony pictures will be taken by a professional photographer. The picture will be taken when you receive your diploma/certificate. However, during the sessions your guests are welcome to take pictures of you, so tell them to bring their camera! After 5 November 2015 you are all invited to share your favorite picture of the day with us via secr-osc-BMS@utwente.nl to publish on the conference website for your fellow students.

5.Practical aspects
If you travel by car you can park at P1 and P2. A map of the campus can be found here.

6.Student experience within IBA: guestbook

Lastly, at the conference a guestbook will be present in which all of you could write a final comment or thought about your experience as an IBA student at the UT or about how you liked the conference. Feel free to leave a note in this book on 5 November 2015!

For more information for your guests, you can also refer them to the conference
website.

Good luck with preparing your presentation and we hope to see you all on 5 November 2015!
