Janne Mewes graduated from the University of Twente with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 2009. Janne then undertook a Master of Science at the University of Edinburgh graduating in 2010 with a MSc in Health Systems and Public Policy. She gained practical experience by interning with the Association of Northern German Company Health Insurance Funds, where she assisted in setting up integrated care contracts with health care providers. In 2010, Janne commenced an intern position with the Bertelsmann Stiftung, working on the “International Network Health Policy and Reform” and in a project on practice variation. In 2011, she started her PhD at the Department of Health Technology and Services Research at the University of Twente.

Janne´s research project entitled “Health Economics of IT-supported Cancer Rehabilitation Programmes” is part of A-CaRe 2 Move. The aim of the project is to improve the rehabilitation of cancer survivors by developing, and later implementing, an evidence-based rehabilitation guideline. In order to support reimbursement decisions of insurance agencies, Janne will carry out a cost-effectiveness analysis of the individual aspects of the guideline (IT-supported patient empowerment, telerehabilitation and return-to-work) as well as the guideline as a whole. In addition, she will analyse the budget impact of these three interventions, which will help guide health care providers´ decision to implement the recommendations made in the guidelines.
