As from February 2015, I am working as a PhD-student on the project Datateams. My research is about formative assessment in secondary education, by using the data team procedure. By formative assessment, we mean that teachers and students elicit and interpret assessments, and use this information to improve classroom practice and student learning. My research focuses on the effects of the data team procedure on (1) teachers’ knowledge on formative assessment and (2) teachers’ use of formative assessment. In addition, the usability of a specific test (the Diagnostic Interim Test) for formative assessment will be studied.
In 2013, I finished the Teacher Training College and the pre-master Educational Science and Technology at Saxion Hogeschool Deventer and the University of Twente in Enschede. Next, I started with the Master Educational Science and Technology at the University of Twente. My Master thesis was about data-based decision making: the use of the datateam® procedure in primary education. I graduated on August 2014. From September 2014 to February 2015, I worked as a reseacher for, amongst others, the project Datateams.
I really like the project Datateams, because teachers learn how to analyze data in a systematically way to improve the education in their school. I find it very interesting to study teachers’ professional development in using formative assessment.
