Juli Nurdiana is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM). She graduated from Industrial Engineering at Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Indonesia, and completed the Master of Environmental and Energy Management (cum laude) at Twente University, The Netherlands and hold the Master in Sustainable Management from Curtin University of Australia. She is academic staff at Faculty of Engineering in Mulawarman University, Indonesia, and teaches on waste management, drinking water management and cleaner production. Her main interests are in zero waste management and circular economy emphasizing on stakeholder participation, and governance policy. Before joining CSTM she has been involved in agricultural research projects in relation to zero waste and sustainable agriculture for tropical areas.
As a scholar, she is currently pursuing her Ph.D., and her research area is focused on Circular Cities as to how circular economy can be used as a driver to transitioning Indonesian industrial cities into Circular Economy. To this regard, as to how Indonesian industrial cities adopt Circular Economy principles and to what extent this can be the starting point for this study to generate recommendations for policymakers by using the institutional analysis and development. The research is supervised by Prof. Dr. Michiel Heldeweg and Dr. María Laura Franco-García.
