Imke Lammers is a PhD candidate at the University of Twente, Institute for Governance and Innovation Studies (IGS), in the department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM). She holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Twente (MSc) and from the Westfälische-Wilhelms Universität Münster (M.A.), and spent one semester each at the Sciences Po Lille and at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Imke is an expert in the governance of Smart Grids. Her expertise covers the areas of energy policy, local energy planning, institutional theory, and the role of local and regional actors in the energy sector. In these areas Imke is actively cooperating with field experts, including municipalities, distribution system operators, and housing associations. Besides this, Imke has experience in the research areas of biogas, bio-based economy, and local energy initiatives and worked at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) and at the Saxion University of Applied Sciences (INTERREG projects Grow2Build and Groen Gas/ Grünes Gas).
During her PhD Imke focusses on the institutional analysis and development of governance arrangements for the implementation of Smart Grids in Dutch residential areas. Her PhD research is financed by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), under the research project ‘Uncertainty Reduction in Smart Energy Systems’.
