UNESCO nomination for University of Twente sustainability course

University of Twente's short course programme Designing Green Climate Fund Projects (ICREP) has been nominated for the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development. The course, which is introduced by the Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability, aims at educating staff from professional and public organizations in the fields of clean energy access, environment and climate change. 

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development honours outstanding projects by individuals, institutions and organizations related to ESD. The prize, which is funded by the Government of Japan, consists of three annual awards of USD 50,000 for each recipient. This years' winners are to be announced in September.

ICREP

The aim of the ten-week ICREP course, is to develop participants’ skills in preparing proposals in the fields of clean energy access, environment and climate change so that they can mobilize climate finance, particularly from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and catalyze clean energy deployment in developing countries. After completion, course participants will have gained knowledge and experience related to e.g. current international policy concerning climate change and clean energy, funding options for clean energy access and promoting energy efficiency and assessing energy markets and sustainable development impacts.
