MEEM to relocate from Leeuwarden to Enschede in 2027

Friday 28 August 2026

From September 2027, the Environmental & Energy Management (MEEM) master’s programme will relocate from Leeuwarden to the UT campus in Enschede. The programme has been based in Leeuwarden Since 2000.

MEEM prepares students to manage societal change in the fields of environment, energy and water. Students work on sustainability challenges such as energy transition, water governance, and the circular economy, at the interface of people, policy and technology.

The move will strengthen MEEM’s connection with the UT community. Students will have more opportunities to take part in the campus life, education and activities across the university. Students from other UT programmes will also have easer access to MEEM courses as electives.

Being based on campus will create more opportunities to collaborate with other programmes and faculties. MEEM’s visibility within and outside the UT will also increase, making the programme more attractive to prospective students.
