Amy Tan

GENERAL INFO

I am currently the Executive Director and Partner of the Centre for Organisational Effectiveness (COE), a business advisory firm in Singapore. I have more than 20 years of experience in the human resource management and organisational development. My career experiences were with companies such as AT&T Consumer Products, SGS-Thomson, Aon Asia, Nokia, Ministry of Manpower and Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

I met Professor Wilderom in 2016 when she was speaking at a leadership seminar at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. I shared with her my dream of pursuing my PhD study. She immediately suggested that I could consider UT. To be honest, before meeting Professor Wilderom, I have not heard of UT. However, after receiving some testimonial from my friend who just completed her PhD at UT, I felt very confident that UT would be the right place for me to pursue my dream. More importantly, I will be guided by Professor Wilderom.

I just started my programme on 1 December 2016. I will only be on campus at least thrice per year. Given that I am not on site, I hope there will be opportunity to meet fellow researchers whenever I am in CM&OB department.

Current Research Projects

To develop a diagnostic model/tool to identify the success profile of an innovative & performing employee in service organisations

Current Teaching

  • Adjunct lecturer in Singapore Management University. I teach a module on Strategic Business HR & Leadership in the Master of Human Capital Leadership (MHCL) programme
  • Adjunct faculty in Singapore Management University Academy. I cover Service Innovation and Coaching for Performance programmes for the academy
  • Design and deliver HR Advanced Officer Course (HRAOC) for the Singapore Ministry of Defence
  • Provide management and organisational development programems to public and private companies. Topics include Lean Six Sigma, Innovation & Change Management, Coaching for Performance, Effective Mentoring, Manager as Coach, Human Resource Management in the Public Sector, Human Resource Management & Leadership in ASEAN, etc.
