Dies Natalis 2026

We are delighted to invite you to the 65th Dies Natalis of the University of Twente, on Friday 27 November 2026. You are welcome from 14:00 in the Waaier. The official programme will start at 15:00.

This anniversary edition will be a special one. During the ceremony, the University of Twente will grant four honorary doctorates on distinguished individuals whose achievements have made an exceptional impact on science, society and innovation. We will celebrate their work and the ideas and ambitions that connect them to our university.

Shaping the future with courage
Technology is all around us, even if we don't always see it. It helps us understand the world and find new solutions. But it also brings new questions. What happens when the technology we rely on stops working? What do we gain from technology, and what might we lose? How much do we want technology to shape the way we live and work?

These questions are central to this year’s Dies Natalis. They also connect to Courage, the theme of our 65th anniversary year: the courage to explore new possibilities, but also to make conscious choices about the future we want to create.

The ceremony will also include the presentation of the Van Damme Scholarship, the Prof. de Winter Award and the Overijssel PhD Award.
